Why the bird? 'Halcyon' is the name for a bird of Greek legend which is commonly associated with the kingfisher. The Halcyon was apparently able to calm the sea so that it could lay its eggs in a floating nest. Nowadays, Halcyon means calm and tranquil. Hence the expression 'Halcyon Days'. Apart from the story above, I chose the name Halcyon as it is prefixed by the same letters as my surname and it ends with '-on' which is generally associated with fundamental particles or units. |
